Day 1: Departure Day
Our journey begins as we board our flight to Athens.
Day 2: Athens (D)
Upon arrival in Athens you will be met by your tour director and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will embark on a city tour including a visit to the Agora where St. Paul preached, here Socrates taught and chose to drink the deadly cup. On Mars Hill, Paul was brought before the council and delivered his great sermon. Of course you will enjoy a visit to the world-famous Acropolis to see the Parthenon, the theater of Dionyssos, the Temple of the Wingless Victory and other sights which reflect the golden Age of Greece. Dinner at a typical Greek Taverna.
Day 3: Corinth (B,D)
Following closely the route St. Paul took during his journey, our excursion leads us to Corinth, where we visit the marketplace he preached to the Corinthians. We also take the opportunity to visit the Temple of Apollo and the Corinth Museum. Return to Athens to do some souvenir shopping. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Athens – Mykonos (B,L,D)
We are transferred to Piraeus harbor where we board our cruise ship. Our first stop is picture-perfect Mykonos with its white washed houses, chapels, and windmills. Free afternoon for shopping and independent exploration. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 5: Rhodes (B,L,D)
Today our ship docks in Rhodes, the island St. Paul visited during his third journey as he sailed toward Jerusalem. We tour the medieval city where the crusaders gathered before sailing to the HolyLand, and the Knights of St. John built this magnificent town; or take an optional tour to the majestic Acropolis of Lindos and the old town built by the Crusaders. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 6: Patmos – Kusadasi – Ephesus – Izmir (B,D)
Our first stop is the sacred island of Patmos where St. John had the vision written down in the Book of Revelation. An excursion takes us to the Grotto of revelation and the 11th century Monastery of St. John which houses the original version of the Gospel. In the afternoon our ship arrives in the colorful town of Kusadasi where we disembark. We continue to Ephesus, the most complete city ever excavated. We tour this magnificent city with its theater, the library, and the Temple of Artemis , declared one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Next we visit the House of Mary. Tradition holds that the Apostle accompanied her to Ephesus. On to Izmir for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Thyatira – Pergamon – Izmir (B,D)
Our first stop today is Thyatira, the site of one of the seven Churches. We continue to Pergamum where the first Christians were executed by Rome. This was the most favored of the seven Churches. We`ll see the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Athena, the fabled Acropolis, and the Royal Gate. Next we visit the Asclepsion, one of the foremost healing centers of the ancient world. Return to Izmir for overnight.
Day 8: Izmir – Istanbul (B,D)
We transfer to the Izmir airport for a short flight to Istanbul, the exotic city linking two continents. Our full day city tour includes Topkapi, the Palace of the Sultan, Haga Sophia, the former Christian Basilica, the Chora Church with its Byzantine artworks, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar with over 400 little shops. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Istanbul (B,D)
Full day Bosphorus and Asia tour. We visit the Egyptian Spice Market and afterwards embark on a boat tour exploring the Bosphorus along the beautiful shorelines of both the European and Asian side. We cross to the Asian side to visit the Camlica Hill and tour the Beylerbeyi Palace, the summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans with its impressive gardens. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Istanbul (B,D)
A free day to enjoy this exciting city. Time for independent exploration and souvenir shopping.
Day 11: Return Flight (B)
Time has come to say good-bye as we transfer to the airport for our flight back home.
